The new A18 chip boasts a Hexa-core CPU, a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. Additionally, the iPhone 16 models come with a dual-core accelerometer capable of measuring up to 256Gs. This accelerometer, along with a high dynamic range gyroscope, enables the Crash Detection feature, which can alert emergency services if you’re involved in a serious accident and unable to access your phone. Apple incorporates various sensors for this feature, including a barometer to monitor cabin pressure changes, GPS to track speed variations, and a microphone to detect sounds associated with car crashes.
